Energy Star: This is a joint venture of the United States Department of Energy as well as the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency. It’s primary purpose is to help fellow Americans save on energy associated costs as well as to better protect the environment though best energy-efficient practices. This means if you have an Energy Star product, you are helping reduce greenhouse gases which are being emitted into our atmosphere. This is why the U.S. Government is willing to offer tax credits and rebates to those who purchase an Energy Star window. (801) 447-1972

Good Housekeeping: This is a agency that has been around for over 100 years now and so it is a name America can trust. When you have an endorsement with the Good Housekeeping, you have a prestigious limited 2-year warranty knowing your window product was built with only the highest standards in mind.

U Value: Measures how effective a window keeps thermal heat from escaping/leaking out of the home. The higher the number rating, the worse the window is in maintaining a constant temperature by allowing heat to escape out of the window.

ASTM: This is another international product rating agency that is a global leader when it comes to measuring a wide variety of product genres (safety, integrity, customer satisfaction, etc.) ASTM sands for The American Society for Testing and Materials.

NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council): This is a council that places windows through rigorous testing to ensure both structure and performance are of the highest quality standards. These ratings include various areas of measurement including energy efficiency, etc. (801) 447-1972

SHGC: This abbreviation stands for Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, which measures how effective a window is in blocking solar heat from the sun. The higher the number rating on this measurement, the worse the window is at blocking heat from the sun.

AAMA: This is an acronym for, The American Architectural Manufacturers Association. The AAMA is an international quality standard established for high performance in hardware, frame and actual glass being used to finalize the overall window construction. The Gold Label is the highest possible rating to earn for a window.

Lead Contamination Free: When purchasing a new home replacement window, it is important to search for a EPA lead Certified window which means it has no potential toxic contaminants found within it. It also is important to hire only the best expert window installers that know exactly what to do when working with an older home that might have lead contamination.
Visible Transmittance (VT): This term is when you measure the exact amount of visible light that is transferring through the window. The lower the number rating, the worse the window is at letting light in.

STC: Otherwise known as Sound Transmission Class, which measures the actual amount of sound that is transferred through the window from the outside to inside the home or business establishment.

BBB: Many of our partners and products in the window industry hold the prestigious high rating, "A+" from the Better Business Bureau ensuring quality care and ultimate customer satisfaction.
