Granted the internet (Youtube and Google) is also a vast and endless source for information in regards to cleaning and overall maintenance of your house windows. In no particular order, follow these basic steps and you are sure to have brand new looking windows for the life of them. Make sure to randomly lubricate your mechanical functioning parts in addition to any washing and cleaning of window glass and frames. You might want to consider doing this monthly if you live near the ocean or in other salt content parts of the globe. Once your parts and window is dried clean; use a silicone based spray (that does not have any petroleum in it) on all the areas that roll, slide and locking parts. Do not use any type of abrasive cleanser solution as you may accidentally scratch your window frame or glass surface. A good way to see if your solution is mild enough like dish soap is to test a small inconspicuous corner of the window frame first. Do not clean your windows in direct sunlight as you are sure to create streaking and deal with heated glass which will cause it to dry out faster than usual in your cleaning efforts. Clean your window screens with the same process you would your glass and frame (mild dish soap and then rinse and wipe dry) except this time you need to make sure you put your screen on a flat surface with a towel under it. (801) 447-1972 When vacuuming out the sills and track areas, first pull out the sash if at all possible for easier range of motion. |
Wipe down the frame and glass with a soft mixture of water and dish soap. Once you have finished, rinse the entire areas with pure water and then proceed to wipe with a dry non adhesive cloth to minimize potential water spots.
*NOTE: Be it marker, crayon, gum, or other sticky substances; as long as you use a non abrasive and mild solution for the frames, and any true window cleaner from the supermarket for the glass, you should be fine.
